Creative Stasis web development. The portfolio of Matt Higgins

Promoting construction or creation in a state of static balance...
creative stasis.

Justin Vernon has just about taken over my eardrums.

First... Merry late Christmas.

Second... I'm no audiophile, I'm just obsessed with music. Whether you as a reader, passer by, less than interested human choose to like the music I do or not is up to you. For me it is my constant inspiration.

I saw "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" when it came out and while this isn't a review of an amazing movie I would like to point out something I thought particularly... denting.

I figured out one thing. If you're growing older or getting younger it really doesn't make any difference. Whichever way you're going you have to make the most of what this is.
Along the way you bump into people who make a dent in your life... Some people... Get struck by lightening...
Some are born to sit by a river.
Some have an ear for music...
Some are artists...
Some swim the English Channel...
Some know buttons...
Some know Shakespeare...
Some are mothers...
And some people can dance...

If you been within 10 miles of me you know good and well I can't dance. So I would like to be classified otherwise. While I'm not sure where I or the people I know fit in any category it's an interesting concept to think about.

Getting back to the title of this thrown-off rambling; Justin Vernon has consumed my speakers for the better half of the year. I'm no special case... I heard about him through Bon Iver along with most of the world. I like to think I heard it first but we all know that's a lie. I still hold on to it.
Anyhow. If it isn't already apparent that I lost my train of thought somewhere after "eardrums" I'll go ahead and close this one up. Please listen to Bon Iver's For Emma, forever ago. Please listen Justin Vernon's Hazelton and Sweet, Sweet Magdalene (and all others). Please purchase Bon Iver's new EP, Blood Bank when it comes out January 20th.

Bon Iver - Blood Bank

Yeah, I heard this on a commercial... so what.

Let us talk for a minute about technology.

I heard this song on a commercial (I want to say it was rhapsody) and instantly liked it. I would see the commercial come on and wait for the 7 second block that this number got and wish I knew who it was. Enter my phone. I mean really. I wonder if these guys ever thought somebody would use their phone to listen to their 7 seconds, figure out who they are and then google them. Blows my mind. Which brings me to my next poing.

Blowing my mind...

That's what this video is doing... daily. Why can mainstream media not pick up on stuff like this? I refuse to go into a soap box rant about mainstream media but if the music is going to be terrible can the videos at least be interesting? I guess that would require music video channels actually showing videos.

Ok well I am through with the rambling... Here is what I have been talking about.

The world is dead out there. They have their ears closed.

"They don't understand what's going on at this moment. It's gonna take 10, 15 20 years to wake up and realize what they missed."

The influential jams

So it's moving time here at creative stasis. The apartment hunt began and is continuing with no sign of an end. I've been listening to some music that I thought I'd share.

I don't know if I would say that those are in order... I also don't know if I would say they aren't. I suggest you look into all of these. If you think you've got something to offer send them my way.

Living, learning and up for work

All is well in the interweb world of Creative Stasis. Living and learning in Texas. I have some time available for new projects and I cannot wait to get my hands on some work.

Everything is looking up (not to say that it has been looking down... or any other direction) and I am enjoying every bit.

One part blog, 3 parts portfolio.
The new creative stasis.

Creative Stasis is the portfolio and "blog" of Matt Higgins. It has been a long while since this site has seen the light of day. Between travel, school, work and all else in between I had found little time to develop this into anything presentable.

Please take a look around and send me a message if you notice anything going awry. I'd be happy to hear from you (and quick to respond).
